THE JAZZ 5 PACK

The Jazz 5 Pack is comprised of musicians from the Philadelphia, Lancaster and Reading areas. Trumpeter Rob Diener and trombonist John Loos form the front line and the co-lead of the group. The rhythm section includes guitarist Gary Wetzel, Mike Gordon, and Tim Wolf on bass and Paul Gallello on drums.

The Jazz 5 Pack performs many of the beautiful and timeless melodies from the Great American Songbook, as well as bebop from the 1940s. The music of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rogers and Hart, Miles Davis, Benny Golson, Duke Ellington and many other prolific composers from this exciting era are staples of The Jazz 5 Pack’s repertoire. Whatever is being performed, the emphasis is always on traditional jazz harmonies and improvisation.

The Jazz 5 Pack has been together for the past five years and collectively, the members have performed together in many other groups for the better part of the last decade. The Jazz 5 Pack has performed concerts at The Miller Center for the Arts in Reading, PA to benefit the Reading School District music department, and was very well received at the Reading Planetarium, Jazz Under the Stars Series.


THE BERKS HORNS

The Berks Horns was formed in 2002 by Saxophonist Mike Anderson for a concert with Greg Karukas at the Berks Jazz Fest. With Rob Diener on trumpet and John Loos on trombone, this horn section has backed up numerous headlining acts at the Berks Jazz Fest over the past 17 years. The group has also performed at the Rehoboth Jazz Festival, The Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz Festival, and Blues Alley in D.C.

MIRANDOLA FANFARE TRUMPETS

Mirandola Fanfare Trumpets is a Herald trumpet ensemble led by Rob Diener. This group was founded in 1992 by Kevin Rosenbury. The group has performed at Renaissance Fairs and special events all over the country including, a performance withThe Philly Pops Orchestra for the grand oepning of the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, the Ohio Derby, and the Pocono 500 and Pennsylvania 500 Nascar races. 2019 marks the groups 29th year performing at The Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair.


ANOMALY

Rob Diener & Anomaly is a six piece jazz group that is based out of Reading, PA. The group was assembled and led by trumpet player Rob Diener since 2003. Anomaly has two CDs to its credit in Trumpet & Batteries Not Included and Some Assembly Required. Both of these CDs received national reviews.

Anomaly has a hard driving rhythm section with a three piece funky horn section fronting the band. The music is a mixture of funk, latin, blues and rock that will have something for every listener.

The group has performed at the Berks Jazzfest, Gerald Veasley’s Jazz Base, The Turks Head Fest and Super Sunday events in West Chester, PA in which they were hand selected out of 80 bands. This is the group’s second appearance at the great Pennsylvania FlavorFest at Mount Hope.
